A two-hour webinar reviewing fair lending requirements under ECOA/Regulation B and FHA, including examples of violations.
Fair lending continues to be an important topic of concern for federal regulators. Of course, financial institutions are prohibited from discriminating against persons on certain bases including race, color, religion, national origin, sex, as well as others. Although this is a relatively straightforward concept, employees may discriminate without intending to do so in a number of ways. Financial institutions therefore are encouraged to be mindful about the potential ways discrimination can occur and train those involved in lending to spot the red flags.
This webinar will review the basic requirements of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (as implemented by Regulation B) and the Federal Housing Act and provide a quick overview on how the Community Reinvestment Act and Home Mortgage Disclosure Act relate to those rules. In addition, we’ll discuss recent violations in a variety of contexts, which will provide guidance and practical examples for concerns that financial institutions should be on the lookout for. Although focus will be on potential violations to the application process, the webinar will review potential discrimination during servicing as well.
This informative session is crucial for all in the lending process, including compliance officers, auditors, loan officers, loan processors, and those responsible for servicing of loans.
